Mounting 2g Coils on a 1G Intake

The 1g intake is commonly known to be somewhat better for high RPM power.  If you have your head ported correctly, you can put a 1g intake manifold on your 2g head.  Many people also put 1g heads in 2g cars (along with 1g intake manifolds).

Regardless, if you want to continue to use your 2g ignition coils, you'll have to make some adjustments.  You can also switch to using 1g ignition coils, but this page will show you how to continue to use your 2g ignition coils.

Make sure and get a 1g ignition coil bracket.  Because the 2g coils are a mirror image of the 1g coils.

First, cut the metal cross braces off.

Make a hardware store run and get enough washers along with longer bolts and some nuts to 'lift' and mount the coil closer to the engine as shown.
Now you can mount the coils like the 1g coils normally mount.  It does make it harder to route the 2g spark plug wires, but at least the coil is mounted securely and out of the way.

Go to the 1g throttle body page.

Return to the Eclipse Page.
